In London, the Waste2Tricity Consortium would produce hydrogen by the use of a new waste gasification technology, so rescuing the city from several thousand tons of waste. In the second stage of the procedure, the hydrogen produced in the first stage would be transformed into electric energy, by which the electric energy output would be 60% higher than in a gas engine, and 200% higher than in a gas turbine power plant. The heat produced during the procedure could be used for the heating and hot water supply of households. This method would be better than those used at present not only from an environmental, but also from an ecological point of view, since besides rescuing the city from part of the waste accumulating in waste containers, it also contributes significantly to the electric energy supply.
